you should let us know exactly what type of guitar you have...its hard to tell you without this, since so many different guitars have different ways of stringing the guitar.

You should not have to remove the knobs to restring your axe unless your old strings are stuck in the knobs. If thats the case try some small needle nose pliers.

I am assuming you are restringing an acoustic and you are talking about the pins not the nobs. There are two ways you can do this. You can put your hand through the sound hole and push them out, our you can take a flat head screwdriver and pry them off, if you do this be very careful not to scratch you guitar. Hope this helps and rock on.....

Yeah, stick you hand inside the guitar and push them out from the inside. Not a good idea to pull them out form the outside, you might scratch em up or break em. Unless you got a pair of Robo Grips. (pliers with foam cushion on the gripping surfaces)

Bottom or top part?

depends on the size of the hole
But take a tiny flat head screwdriver
and push it through.
If its still stuck, and some grease and wiggy it

I hope your talking about a stuck string piece.....

why take out the knobs? just take out the old strings, rethread the new ones, wind up and tune.

I suppose you mean down at the body end of the string (as opposed to the neck/head/scroll end)? I use a pair of needlenose pliers (gently) on mine. The factory gets them in pretty tight. Mine guitar is acoustic. I dunno if you've got acoustic or electric. I dunno if it matters.
