Note: I am not an expert. If your ceiling is completely sealed which is really unlikely, then it is probably not harmful. Most asbestos is removed but sealing it in is another alternative. If you have forced air heating or cooling in the ceiling, I would get rid of the asbestos (professonal removal only) pronto!
