But part of the whole process, right !?! Anyway, last night I woke to go pee and when I wiped there was a "glob" of jelly-like goo (about the size of a quarter) and it was a yellowish/brownish tinged opaque color - but definitely gelatine-like. Would this most likely be my plug, or the start of it? And how big is it usually? You would think I would know this after 2 previous pregs, but I never lost mine until in active labor while being checked for dilation - so I never really saw it! Thanks in advance everyone! (BTW - I am 39 weeks along / I've been 1 cm dilated & thick cervix for the past 4 week - and very anxious!)

sounds like it.

* You pass your mucus plug or notice "bloody show."
You may pass your mucus plug — the small amount of thickened mucus that's sealed your cervical canal during the last nine months — if your cervix begins to dilate as you get close to labor. The plug may come out all at once in a lump, or as increased vaginal discharge over the course of several days. The mucus may be tinged with blood (which may be brown, pink, or red), which is why it's referred to as "bloody show." Having sex or a vaginal exam can also disturb your mucus plug and cause you to see some bloody discharge even when labor isn't going to start in the next few days. In either case, if you see more than a few spots of blood, be sure to call your caregiver immediately because it could be a sign of a problem.

congradulations and good luck with a new baby!!!!

It may or may not have been your mucous plug. Around 38-39 weeks of my pregnancy I started to notice the jelly like stuff also sometimes it would be a lot and sometimes it would only be a little. In my case it turned out to be just excessive discharge but when my mucous plug finally did come out (while I was in active labor) it was very very green and completely gross.

I lost my mucous plug after being checked the first time. But most likely that was it or at least the start of it and that could possibly mean that you are gonna go any time now. So get prepared. Don't worry about the dilation that takes forever or at least until you get into active labor and your water breaks. Good Luck!!!!

I lost my mucus plug over a week once. Yes its gross. I lost a lot more at the hospital when I was in labor. I would think each is different. I have had 3 children.

This has been happening to me considering my final pelvic examination (monday) the checklist mentioned i substitute into 1cm dilated, then i had some heavy discharge with pinkish tint, so i presumed it substitute into merely from the examination, whether it relatively is been coming all week. i'm thinking it relatively is the plug in small quantities?? i googled pictures, and it does not look something like those loopy pictures, yet i've got heard it would desire to easily be popping out in in little bits.

yeah, sounds like it, but labor doesn't follow any kind of set timeline so it could still be awhile.

LOL Not to discourage you, but I started losing mine around 37 or 38 weeks with my last child (I have 4 now and the youngest is 5 mths today) and didn't have her until I was 11 days overdue.

It was most likely your mucus plug. It might happen a couple more times the way you described until it is all gone.

Treat it like your water breaking. Be sure not to take tub baths (showers are okay) or have sex until after baby is born.

Don't be too anxious......it might be a few more days until baby makes his/her appearance.

Best wishes!

This sounds to me like you are loosing your mucus plug. If it looks like snot but darker than you are probably right. I thought that I was loosing mine and I am only 5 1/2 months along and got really scared and called the doctor and he told me that as long as it wasn't alot and it stayed almost clear I was fine. If it got a yellow/brown color to it and got more frequent and heavy then you are starting to loose your mucus plug.

Good luck and congrats!!

Congrats!! It looks like you are on the home stretch. I would say that you did lose it or atleast a portion of it. Sometimes it is tinged with a small amount of blood so if this happens don't be alarmed. Good Luck

That's your plug. I lost mine piece by piece starting at 29 weeks. By 36 weeks it was gone. I had the baby at 38 weeks.
