Any ideas on how we could keep this theme throughout the yearbook? Ie: backgrounds, templates, etc. . .

I would use road signs and number plates through out the pages. I would put groups of people in the cars that match their personality.
Petrol bowsers that feed knowledge. Road side cafes could be used as memories of people. The front cover could be a design made up of road maps and each road follows into the yearbook pages. Freeways with many roads going in all direction with People and their destinations eg. at the of one road Jane Doe is bound to become a nurse or John Doe at the end of another will become a carpenter etc. I hope this helps a little?

Well, this is kind of an obvious choice, but it's a start:
The song, by Tom Cochrane:

Life's like a road that you travel on
When there's one day here and the next day gone
Sometimes you bend sometimes you stand
Sometimes you turn your back to the wind
There's a world outside every darkened Door
Where blues won't haunt you anymore
Where the brave are free and lovers soar
Come ride with me to the distant shore
We won't hesitate break down the garden gate
There's not much left today
Life is a highway
I want to ride it all night long
If you're going my way
I want to drive it all night long

Through all the cities and all these towns
It's in my blood and it's all around
I love you now like I loved you then
This is the road and these are the hands
From mozambique to those memphis nights
The khyber pass to vancouver's lights
Knock me down get back up again
You're in my blood I'm not a lonely man

There's no load I can't hold
Road so rough this I know
I'll bee there when the light comes in
Tell 'em we're survivors

Chorus x2

There was a distance between you and I
A misunderstanding once but now
We look it in the eye

There's no load I can't hold
Road so rough this I know
I'll be there when the light comes in
Tell 'em we're survivors
*****************************************************
akc, you stole my thunder! LOL!!!!

It would be really cool and personal if you could get a local map or highway to replicate throughout the pages on the yearbook, or maybe for the cover? Since you know this early, maybe take some non traditional pictures of students performing activities on the street. For example, I know our local school has marching band practices, cross country teams, dance team, show choir and several other teams or organizations that will practice on the street. There are also the homecoming, Christmas, and other parades.

all the above ideas are good. i would put tire track across pages, not interfering with the pictures, going here and there for that is where everyone will be going. road signs with different directions to towns and colleges/universities. truck stop or road side cafes, you know the cheesy typical looking ones from the 60s type. each class could have a different theme or era of cars through time or whatever.

amanda h was good, but you could make it a section of the book and call it something like, freshman blvd.

Ask people to get baby pictures(if not baby pictures, at least 3 years or younger), so you can place them next to each others for the senior class pics. Pictures of your highschool from when it was built to how it looks today. They have them in your school somewhere in the files. And have people put accomplishments that they have done in thier life(only important ones. review them and tell the person to put something else if it is not apropriate) and a brief description of what they plan on doing in the future.

I don't know how your senior year book is, but ours only had pictures of seniors. It would be too many pics because my high school had close to 2,500 people in it. And graduating classes have about 800 people. So if it has pics from all the classes(freshman, junior) it will be a little difficult to do that. But our year book always had baby pics for those who chose and a quote for each student to post. But it did not have a list of "personal" accomplishments and what they plan for the future.

Hope this helped. Designing are more for woman. PEACE!

You could have a comic book theme. Find out who people's favorite super heroes are. You could see if anyone can draw very well to draw people as super heroes. Or find out who people's favorite musical artist are and have a musical theme. You could have lyrics in the background. And maybe have a page dedicated to the musicians at the school.

Road signs and cars. For example get the class officers pictures in different convertibles under highway signs near your school.

A highway has many onramps and offramps. Many roads that lead nowhere or somewhere. Some roads lead into the distance and some lead to the local machine shop. The road you choose is the one or ones that will make you what you are destined to be.

In the back, where you have everyone listed alphabetically, use streetnames from your town/city for each letter

IE:

Art St
Birch Street
Clyde Ave

Etc. Make the letter itself BIG, and the rest of it small.

Use outlines of street signs with your headlines inside the signs. Use stuff like "BEEP BEEP: Fashions on the street: for headlines--- just get creative!!
