Ok my b-day is kind of a long way off-March- but I wanna plan early. I'm going to have it at my neighborhood clubhouse. My parents of course will be there. The only problem I have is music. My parents dont like rap and all that and are strict about what I listen to, even though everyone my age listens that kind of stuff. My parents said I could get a DJ but what is he/she plays a song my parents think is "inapropriate". But if the DJ doesnt play a bad song I dont want people to say that my party sucks because there is no good music. So what should I do??

Before you book a DJ make sure his play-list can be pre-approved by you and your parents. Happy Early Birthday

I'm a DJ, and whoever is paying me is the BOSS. So if your parents are paying, and they tell me not to play a certain song I don't. I play mostly by request so if someone asks me to play something the BOSS doesn't want played I tell them exactly that look i'm sorry, but C.M.'s parents don't want that played. Their paying me I have to respect their wishes. 99.9% of the time the person will request something else that I can play. Plus none of the blame goes on you it's your parents & i'm sure most of your friends can relate to that because their parent are probably the same way. Now let me tell you a funny story, well funny now, but s*cked the day it happened. I'm DJing a wedding, and the mother of the bride is paying. Yes she's the BOSS. At the beginning of the reception she asked if I could play Meatloaf's I'll Do Anything For Love but I Won't Do That. I said I would. Well a few hours into the reception everybodys having a good time the dance floor is full of people which as a DJ that's a good thing. Then the mother comes up to me,and insists that I play her song next. I tried to talk her out of it, but she insisted. So I play I'll Do Anything For Love but I Won't Do That next. There wasn't a single person left on the dance floor, and everybody's looking a me like WTF. So after the song I anoncened that it was the mother of brides request. Needless to say I no longer carry that CD with me.

If I were you, I'd just bed till I got the DJ, he can play watered down tracks. I'm sure he'll have great party songs that beep out swear words...or e-mail him yourself, and tell him to play whatever..as long as there aren't serious swear words or not too much rap your parents wont care.
There are so many cool dance songs that you wouldn't need a lot of rap.
Your parents have to realise that this is your night and you don't wanna look like an idiot. Tell them that just because the songs has bad words that doesn't mean you're gonna say them or whatnot.. you need to make a compromise with your parents.

There are DJ's out there that have edited music and you can just tell them. Hire someone for your age group who does birthday parties. You will have no worries. I am sure the dj at your school dance cant play the "bad" songs but everyone still has fun.
