I wonder won't people benefit if people were more organized and disciplined. That they bought whatever they need only on weekends. Most Retailers'd not have to employ people during the week. Of course I belive this would not apply to evertyhing.

Weekends would be the new weekdays.

Historically, the trend has been towards more shopping hours as the level of consumption has risen. In the 1200s, shopping only occurred on market days and in towns chartered (licensed) by the king to have markets. In the 1st half of the 20th century, the norm was 9 to 5 shopping Monday-Saturday, with a half day off on a midweek afternoon. There were some funny laws about Sunday trading, the most memorable being that you could sell fish and chips if you were primarily a Chinese restaurant, but not if you were a fish-and-chip shop. Now we have some shops open all day every day and many Asdas ditto except for 10pm Sat to 11am Sun and 5pm Sun to 7.30am Mon. The pressure is on for total derestriction as in America. People want to buy when it suits them, and sellers want to sell when the customers are queuing.

People would get irritated by the crowds. Customer service would be greatly decreased. It wouldn't save consumers money and probably would cause retailers in the end.
