Since I have not lived in either country, it's hard for me to say, but can speak about Chinese Americans vs Filipino Americans. My wife is Filipina and and I work with many of both ethinicities.
From what I have seen, Chinese Americans care more about education, prestige and being thought of as equals to other successful Americans. Because the western perception of Communism is that it doesn't work as a form of government, they want to prove that Communism can still turn out professionals (doctors, lawyers, academics, etc.)
Filipinos, on the other hand, coming from a Democratic society that has fallen on hard times over the last generation (25 years), are more concerned about money. They come from a 3rd world country. The ones lucky enough to get here, probably did so because they have some wealth, but certainly know people who had vast wealth but lost it due to corruption and a failing economy. Their objective is to make as much money as possible and bring family over the the US. Many go into nursing because the pay is so good. They don't have the time or commitment to become doctors - they need money now. Education is only a means to a good job, not to status or the quest for knowledge.

You can actually compare anything to anything else. That is the meaning of comparisons, to look at the differences and similarities of the two(or more) things being compared. Depending on what you are comparing is what will show a greater disparity of differences and similarities.

Chinese people believe the dog must be fully cooked before eating. Dirty Filipinos believe the dog may be eaten at any stage.

chinese are way overpopulated and communist and mean and stuff. phillipino asians are nice people and some of their women are good looking.
