Best bet is to look in the yellow pages for used book dealers. Start calling around.
Make sure before you bring your books in that they have a buyer in the store.
If you read a lot, you're better off trading them in instead of selling them. I used to be a book buyer for a used book store and we gave customers 10% of the resale value in cash, but 50% in trade.

Okay, I don't know about the romances, but the sci-fi/fantasy genre is what is happening right now in the book world. So, what you need to do is check with rare booksellers or go online to Sothbey's and Christie's auction houses where they have people that appraise just books. New and used. I happen to know that Stephen King's first book in the Gunfighter series is selling at well over $175 today.

try e-bay or amazon
also go to your local library and check their events postings. ask the librarian if there is a book exchange program in the area. another good idea is to sell them at a yard sale. if you absolutely cannot sell them and just want to get rid of them, you could always donate to a school or public library. they can always use new books but don't always have money in their budget.

ebay because you will get a bigger audience than if you sold them in a yard sale.
