I am not talking about getting bad health (touchwood). This is about the material gift you hate the most - mug, photoframe..you get the drift.

maybe i should have used "dislike" instead of "hate".

just to clarify that i am a non-christian and xmas is a "friends gathering" day for me, rather than religion-wise.

Re-gifts! They're so not thoughtful. My grandma re-gifted me a couple of years ago with this really tacky wine rack. (I barely ever drink.) She neglected to open the package because inside was a card to her from my uncle.

It's NEVER ok to re-gift....especially when it's family!

It hurt my feelings.

Honestly the thing that I hate recieving for Xmas is Xmas related items. I would rather be without a gift on Xmas day and receive it during the month of December. Then I can enjoy it more. Seriously that gets my goat more than anything. GRRRRR. I don't mind anything other than that. It is the thought that counts but Xmas related items have to be giving before Xmas day.

Some thing I gave two years before.
Unless I am feeling really comic. Even then....
A gift certificate to the health clinic.
(oh, sorry, you said not health.)
A false phone number, e-mail or address; any dishonesty.
How would you xmas wrap dishonesty ?
A prewrapped gift of smoked cheese and sausages,
But the dried fruits are not bad. And preserves. And Candy.
I actually like fruitcake and when all the comics attack it I feel they are attacking my heritage, and the holiday spirit.

Well, Christmas in September; I suppose it might be time to start planning.

I know this sounds funny, but it's true. I am so tired of getting Velvetta cheese and Hickory Farms summer sausage. My father used to get it for me all the time when I was younger which was cool then because I didn't get it at home with my mom. We didn't have much money for these kind of expensive items. However, now that I am all grown up I can afford my own Velvetta cheese and Hickory Farms summer sausage! It's not fun getting it anymore, but it's kind of like a tradition for my father and I don't want to hurt his feelings. I personally would rather have the dreaded fruitcake that nobody else likes. I love fruitcake!

Definitely do not hate anything I receive for I feel privilegded that someone thought of me enough to buy / give anything at all.

I suppose things I have received that I have no room or use for is anything on the "nic nak" order... I do not need more things to dust around and I dont like looking at all the crap sitting on shelves and such... on the other hand I am super easy to buy for ... I would love a big box of laundry detergent..NO KIDDING !! So simple... but people claim I have everything so I am hard to buy for in their opinions. * sniffle * : (

All in all... I appreciate anything but feel I need nothing.

Kitchen appliances. The weird ones like the potato twister type of thing. You try it once and it ends up living in a dark cluttered cabinet until you decide to toss it.
And anything that begins with Popeil Pocket anything. You know those nifty gadgets seen on TV?

Right up there with the singing fish.

Clothing Some Always Gives Everyone On in the Family Socks. No One Knows Who does it because everyone gets them and complain about

As a kid I always hated getting socks and undies. If I'm buying gifts for a kid I always get them a gift certificate for Toys R' Us. I did buy my neighbor's kid a tickle me elmo for christmas one year but it turns out 2 aunts already beat me to it and it would just seem ridiculous for him to have 3 so his pop returned two of them. Plus if the kid has a brother or sister it just seems dumb making them do the buddy routine and give them each the same thing. Every year since I've just gotten them gift certificates.

Nothing. If someone is nice/generous enough to make me something or get me something, then I'm gonna appreciate it, even if it's not what I originally wanted. What about those really poor kids in third-world countries who don't get the opportunity to receive any gifts at all? Maybe you'd be angry if you only got clothes... you give them clothes, or anything, you'd make their entire day.

Growing up my aunt used to give us socks or underwear for Christmas. What made it worse was they usually didn't fit, so my aunt would say she'd exchange them for us which usually meant we ended up not even getting the crummy socks and or underwear. My kids always get fun stuff for Bdays & Holidays because of that memory.
