Austin: Friendly, mellow vibe, Town Lakefront is really beautiful, Sixth Street and Capitol are big assets to the city.

San Antonio: Riverwalk, Alamo, and a very fast-growing, progressive job market.

Fort Worth: Southern hospitality dosed with old West heritage, which it has preserved so well.

Galveston: Incredibly friendly, the Strand is neat and reminiscent of an old-school beach town, the beaches on the western part of the island are really clean and quiet.

McGregor: They have this good restaurant there called "The McGregor Cafe." Bush ate there when he was Governor. It's about 10 mi. S. of Crawford and 15 mi. W. of Waco, the people are really friendly.

Arlington: So much fun, and AmeriQuest Field is truly a great place to watch baseball!

New Braunfels: A nice suburban community just N. of San Antonio.

All of these places are beautiful with friendly people! Almost every place I've been to in TX has left me w/ a good impression.

What about Dallas and Houston, too big maybe? I have been to San Antonio and like it very much. Not too big and has a good relaxed feel to it. I am a Texan, from Dallas. I am not big on Arlington for some reason. I think I would go for the hill country, because a lot of Texas does not have much scenery. I have also lived in Corpus Christi, and they had a big storm right after we moved and affected the area we lived in, just think the beach is better in California. Galveston, it is nice to visit, but I would take the hill country in East Texas. The people are very nice, friendly and neighborly. Prepare to be hot and humid no matter where you live in Texas.

I live here in Austin (though I'm moving in 2 weeks)
East Texas (around Tyler/ Nacogdoches area) is really beautiful with great big trees, green rolling hills, lotsa oil money, and old, old places.
I find Texas TOO HOT and am headed for a better climate.

How about Dallas. Go to the West End or Deep Elum.

Corpus Christi, home of Selena. Great seafood, nice atmosphere. Try Cassidy's Pub on Water St.

Amarillo, home of the 72oz. steak. Eat it all (plus all the trimmings) in one hour and it's free!

Midland, home of the Confederate Air Force, home of George W. Bush, great Celtic (Scottish/Irish) festival in March each year.

Lubbock, home of legendary singer/guitarist Buddy Holly

Wink, birthplace of one of the greatest voices in rock and roll history Roy Orbison.

Many, many more. TEXAS ROCKS!
