would the people who are against gay marriage (because marriage should be between man and women) be accepting and vote yes for Domestic Partnership (all the rights two people should have as a couple, reguardless of sex, but without it being called marriage) ???

Basically, this is all that is wanted... basic rights. The idea of marriage, at least in name, seems to be the thing people object to.

So... if we call it something differant, like Domestic Partnership, would that be good enough for the people that are threatened by gay marriage, to vote yes to give equal rights to all Americans?

And to the gay/lesbian folks, would calling it something different, but getting what you want, be acceptable?

*** Keep in mind domestic partnership is already an option for straight couples, who do not wish to be married, yet want all the rights and benifits of marriage, for whatever reason, such as the decision to take thier partner off of life support (Living Will) and inheritance

This might be where it all comes out.

I'm not sure heterosexuals can be domestic partners in every state where it's available - it might just be for homosexuals.

Again, maybe a good compromise . . .

Because a person is a sexual deviant does not put them in a special category to be legally treated any differently than anyone else.

Marriage is not a right.

"Domestic partnerships" are fine with me, marriage is not.

I just actually DESPISE the idea the because someone is "gay" they should have "rights" all their own because they are "gay".
I am white, straight, married, a parent, employed, law abiding and honest....not asking for my own set of "rights" because I am all of those things.
GAY is a choice...choose to be gay, choose the lifestyle and all that goes along with it.
No marriage, No "domestic partnership"

I did not think it was necessary for the state to except domestic partnerships

I like civil union but yes I might be more willing. I know the laws are not fair and people need some protection but the term marriage should be left where it is.

Just face it. People don't like gay people. They do not want gay people to be happy. And in the US, They will never let gays marry under any nomenclature.

No, they've tried terming it "gay union" too and that didn't work.
