When a couple decides to have a SERIOUS relationship, they need to talk about where the other person stands on having kids. If you want to get married and one of you wants children and the other does not, then you need to look elsewhere to find someone who is more compatible.

Once a couple has been through this conversation, then they need to decide where they are going and what the time frame they want to use for children. It's a discussion that only the couple is able to answer to figure out what is best for them. I don't think there is a time that is too soon to plan as a couple, but make sure the couple is considering a long term relationship first.

Well, my hubby and I talked about when we wanted to start a family while we were dating each other (we dated each other for 3 months total...). That way I had a time-line in the back of my head. I would just start an open dialog about how I would like kids someday but don't want them until the both of us are ready and the like. Something like 2 or 3 years from now or whatever time line you had in mind.

If you are in this relationship to get married, than it should be in the first couple of dates that way you know if this will be a hurdle you need to get out of the way if possible if you can't than don't lose yout time in this relationship.

I think you should be in a committed relationship which involves marriage before starting a family, but hey that is just what I think.
