why dont you call them first?
And read the fine print, it might be a "if you deposit this you agree to sign up for such and such" scam.

Did you enter a contest? If not, then it's a scam.

Call the credit union and verify the validity of the check. It would be highly unusual for Zurich Financial to have an account with a credit union; major insurance companies and financial consortiums like Zurich don't do business that way.

Check the RTN on the check (9-digit number in the lower left corner) on this site to verify the name and address of the credit union: http://www.gregthatcher.com/Financial/Default.aspx

If that doesn't match exactly what's on the check then it's a fraud for sure -- one that may take a while to work its way through the system. If it does match up, call the CU and see if you can put a phone certification on the check or exchange it directly with them for a certified check that will clear without any problems or delays.

Also, read the back of the check VERY carefully. You might actually be applying for a fraudulent loan with an excessive interest rate, not just cashing a check! If the back of the check is full of legal mumbo-jumbo this is likely the case.

be careful might be a scam safe way is to go to your bank and ask them to collect the $$ they will process it for you and not credit your account until it is verified and then you will have the $$ [this is a sure way to verify if it is a scam or not]
