The national budget for public education for 2006 $56,000,000,000 or less then 1/6 the current cost of the war.

With that money we could have found an alternative source of clean, cheap, renewable fuel, bought everyone in the country a plasma TV, paid off a chunk of debt, rebuilt after Katrina a couple times over, paid for the lost savings of everyone screwed over by WorldCom, Enron, Global Crossing, bought everyone gas for a year, given out free medication to the sick or elderly....

...no, that was money poorly spent on a cause that turned out to be false.

What is really the hard part to swallow, is the fact that the second we leave Iraq is just going to start back up their 600 year old civil war AND that Iraq is now a training ground and recruitment center for terrorism. All those lives.. ...all that money.. ..all that time... .all for nothing.

Ignoring all the preivious leftist liberal answers... I say it is worth it for these reasons:
1. The Iraqi people are fighting with us for their freedom. (voting under death threats)
2. We need another ally in the middleast. We have Israel now, but another would help them too.
3. With the ultimate success there, democracy will likely spread and begin to reduce the worldwide terrorist threat.
4. Only arrogant liberals think that the Iraqi's are too primitive and warlike to appreciate freedom.
