Why do most black people today act as if they themselves were slaves? You weren't. You are capable and expected to work, go to school, and apply for the same jobs as white people. I have no problem with a black (or any other race) person getting ahead in life, or getting a job or promotion over me when they are more educated, or more experienced than myself. But, it seems that every time something is given to white man instead of black, someone is being accused of racism. That's not right. I am not going to say that racism doesn't happen today, because it does. But, it's not only white against black, sometimes it is the white man that is overlooked because of his race. Ignorance comes in every color. When are we all going to be able to see past the difference in our skin color, and realize we are all here doing the same thing! Just trying to make it! The whole racism is getting old and overused.

Black people and white people are all the same, they're all just people. Stop pretending there's a significant difference or you're just contributing to perpetuate racism. Your attitude can actually be considered passive racism if you think about it. Stop blaming the white people of today for the mistakes made by the white people of yesterday, and stop acting as if you've suffered what your ancestors suffered and that someone owes you for it, because you were never a slave and no one owes you anything. The past has passed and there's nothing we can do about it now but learn from it so that we will not repeat the same mistakes and jeopardize our future in doing so.

AIDS is a problem and many people with the right qualifications, competence and intelligence to do so have been working to find a solution/cure for many years. If you also acknoledge that it is a problem, then simply be responsible and do not engage in any acts that might get you or other people infected. I'm not telling you to have sex, just to have safe sex, and to not go around sleeping with everyone, because that's risky behaviour.

And yes, racism does still occur today, and will occur until people learn to accept diversity and coexist peacefully without judging other people for something as insignificant as their skin color.

You asked and I am answering. Most white ppl are fed up with blacks throwing slavery at us all the time as if any of us have one!!!!! That is why some of us say try and forget. Every time something bad happens to blacks they play the race care almost every time!!!!!! If a famous black man kills someone the ACLU is right there shouting racism. Now do you see why alot of us get fed up?????? Yes there is racism still but if blacks would just hush up about slavery things might not be so bad.

I have to agree with J&C's first sentence. It's probably because we are tired of hearing MOST black people complain about all these things, but do NOTHING about it....

I just wanted to ask though (no offense) what do you mean by "forget our past"? Is that regarding slavery? Just curious... I didn't really understand that part...

Shirley E. is exactly right about the slavery thing. What do any of us have to do with slavery? We do not own a slave. In fact, almost every race has been a slave at some point in history. Black people were not the first. In fact, "American Indians" were the first slaves in America... but no one hears about that. So, because I am 25% Cherokee Indian, does that mean I get to blame people who live now for the damage they did to "my people"? No one alive today was a slave... it did NOT happen to YOU. In fact, I might be from a line of slaves (think about it... mixing races... who knows if 200 years ago, my family tree had a black slave in it? Its possible... doesn't mean I expect people to treat me as if I had such a hard life...) But, thank you for not being rude about your question and sorry if I sounded rude about my answer.

There is racism and it is not okay but alot of other people of other nationalities do the same thing. Stop singling out a race. What are they supose to do? Run around in the street saying ,"RACISM IS WRONG!" It is not okay but hey they can't change peoples minds. They also can't help who gets aids. People know the risks. That racist what you just said.

What you are whining about, is totally out of focus in today's way of thinking. YOU were not a slave, YOU have just as much opportunity(if not MORE)as anyone else in this world. Some use Racism as an excuse for their own laziness. It's sad when business has to over look someone who is truly qualified for a position, just to justify a race quota! NOW, who's the slave?

Honestly, because you're making a race issue out of something that is not. I'm white, I'm not responsible for your past, nor do I care. I went to an all black school, and got teased, but I don't hold all black people accountable for it. Racism, black and white, will always exist, because we don't want to get along. I'm not saying it's right, it's dead fuc**** wrong. But it's the truth, and I don't think that will ever change.

Of course you shouldn't forget, but that doesn't mean you have to be thinking about it all the time and expecting racism around every corner. What I can't stand is being expected to take blame for something I never have and never would have participated in. I am no one's enemy, and it hurts me just as much as it does you to be judged for the color of my skin.

for some people it's easy just to offend you... learn that some things will never change...have you heard when politician say the war has ended however, there still killings and awful things happening... it's the same thing with racism. there still racism at there...it's easy to blame others for bad things, and is also easy to take credits when blacks and Latinos do the job for us. white bosses look good when they said 'we did it" it goes on believe me try to cope with it. Good luck
