If the song itself (Melody, Chord Progression, etc.) is good, then it will shine through in an acoustic rendition which strips away any extras.
If the song isn't any good and has been saved from the scrap-heap by applying extras, then an acoustic rendition will expose all the flaws.
It comes down to the quality of the song.

Doing an acoustic version either brings the song to a different level or makes the artist do flavor of the month thing or being of the mindset the song was a hit before now ill do an acoustic version and make more money.either way it always ends up with you how does it sound to your ears.

Sometimes better, usually not.

My favorite is Sweet Jane. Which was a hard rocking song by Lou Reed. The Cowboy Junkies did an incredibley haunting acoustic version of it.

Everlong by Foo fighters. The acoustic is awesome, the original song itself is good, but the acoustic better.

i'm uncertain at this element. I enjoyed Halestorm's "i'm not an Angel", stay and acoustic... yet lots of the time i like finished band. Bq: while it is composed of vocals, i'm an authority. particular, that's totally accessible for the two one in all those. An untrained voice might sound solid one way, and unfavorable the different. training is significant. Self training can help. considering that i discussed it above: Halestorm's "i'm not an Angel".
