Ive noticed some of the things people say to me and other people can be really hurting and spitefull. Its tight judging someone before they've even met them dont you think?

Yes, it can be that way regardless of the medium. But if you think this is bad you should see the "Religion and Spiritual" section...it's a full on onslaught in there.

sure there are people like that out there - but they're not on this site to answer or ask questions - just to rise people and provoke reactions. I know myself from some of the answers I get that many people know how do just this, but you have to try and ignore it - last time I gave in to an insensitive answer I got a violation warning! Some people just do this for fun so Ive now discovered the best way to deal with it is to ignore spiteful answers point blank

Hi Fraser3771,
(nice surname,by the way),
Sadly,by joining Y!A, you are laying yourself wide open to the whole cross section of human life.
Fortunately, there are many on this site with a genuine interest and concern for their fellow man/woman, and apart from providing constructive opinions, also genuinely empathise with the person doing the asking.
Just ignore the rest.
Otherwise, the next thing you know is that when you walk down the street you'll be worrying about what everyone around you thinks of what you're wearing.........and that's paranoia, folks!
Enjoy the site for what it is.
Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

I think that the 'political correctness' has gotten out of hand. People are taking it to heart and are becoming angry without realizing that they are just words. You are the master of your own feelings and will become angry, or happy, or sad, or any other one of a million feelings at your own will. It is a cop out to blame simple words, coming from where they may, on the way you feel or react to them. The Internet gives many people the opportunity to vent some of the social frustration they feel due to their own inadequacy or inability to cope with their own fears. Some people do it just for the shock value they know it can produce in simple minded individuals who insist on believing this actually can do any harm. Some people use this medium of communication just for fun, pranking and general nonsense. Take what is said with a grain of salt, especially when they are comments that seem so wrong. We are all products of our hereditary traits and the conditioning we were subjected to but as adults we have the obligation to fend for ourselves and not fall victims of all the BS pumped out by our rancid society and our 'big brother' controlling government. Stand up for yourself and become accountable for your own feelings and don't let the hype of 'political correctness' rule your life!

People are looking for objective answers when they post on answers.

Some objective answers may appear 'insensitive'.

Nice answers often don't give the best answer to the question. they probably just contribute to more hum drum life challenges.

However ther are some answers which are just callous and are just people playing, You have to remember we're on a public site, it's a pretty good resource but like most things it has it's faults.

The only suggestion i would have is to rate the callous answers with a low rating (thumbs doown).

I agree and I hate it but I guess that is the beauty of this site really. You can say what you feel without people knowing who you are and actually being able to hurt you lol for your nasty comment not to mention there are plenty of young kids on here as well as rude adults

People can be mean on this website because no one can see them or take them on in person. I bet it's the wimps who give the meanest answers - you know, the guy who is like 35, not married and weighs 90lbs, still sucks his thumb - you know what I mean. :)

But seriously, who knows. Some people are trying to be funny and it's not working. Other people just want points. I like to think I answer each question sincerely, but I tend not to sugarcoat and I know that offends some people who solely choose an answer based on what they want to hear.

People come here and ask questions of people they know nothing about. They expect people they don't know to give them answers on problems they know nothing about. And you are worried about a few people trying to be funny, or being insensitive? You have to realize where you are. You can't expect too much.

Trouble with typing is you can never tell if someone is saying something tongue in cheek or being deliberately hurtful.
Also if you ask for advice or opinions on here you are opening yourself up to loads of comments from all sorts of weirdos and nice people too though.
Dont take it so much to heart.

Maturity counts for some of those people. Some people just don't have a great emotional intelligence. Being open is a gift and not all people have it. Few people can sympathize with someone, much less empathize with them. Chin up and keep asking questions.
