They aren't. They are huge piles of ash, lava and poisonous gas. Please DO NOT try to keep one as a pet.

Not alive. The word you are looking for is active. An active volcano is one with activity. A dormant volcano has no activity, but CAN develop activity. There's really no such thing as an extinct volcano (as Mt St. Helens proved).

They are made up of matter, rocks, earth etc. They are not made up of CELLS!! Who told you they are alive? Because they are not! All living things are made up of CELLS!

they're NOT....it's just that they seem so alive becasue they're the gateway between the inner moving part of the planet and the surface....but they're not actually ALIVE.
