6 hours difference. It is usually 6 hours later in UK than it is in Minneapolis (which is in the Central time zone). I say "usually" because, although they both observe daylight savings time, it starts on slightly different dates in the two countries. Example: In Edinburgh, DST started Mar 26, 2006. In Minneapolis, DST started on Apr 2, 2006. So, during the week between those two dates the difference would have been 7 hours.

It goes coast to coast so the whole east coast is eastern standard time and the next timezone over is an hour behind from the zone before it (i forget exactly where each zone ends and the next zone starts) but the farthest time apart is west and east coasts. The west coast is 3 hours behind the east. If you google it I'm sure a map will come up with the zones.
