Transforming an uninhabitable planet into an Earth like environment to sustain human life.

Terraforming literally means to make something earth-like and is the process of developing our moon or other planet so as to make it habitable for humans. It's also called planetary engineering.

If you enter either term into a search engine you'll find lots of info but in a nutshell it involves taking a desolate planet and creating an atmosphere, ecology and other aspects essential to maintain human life.

Historically it's always been pure sci-fi but the technology is emerging that would make this a possibility. It would take many decades and cost trillions of dollars but who knows... maybe one day your great-great-great grandchildren may be living on the moon.

Trying to turn another planet in to an alternative Earth, presumably so we can go and muck it up once we've finished with this one.
