Ask anyone and they will say that 8 hours is the recommended daily sleep requirement for every 24 hour peroid. Sleep 8 hours, awake 16 hours.
However, if you are like my downstairs neighbour, you seem to have bypassed the whole concept altogether; it appears that some humans require no sleep, or rather can function for years with just about 2 or 3 hours of sleep per 24 hour peroid.
Thanks to that selfish idiot construction neighbour downstairs, I am lucky when I get 5 or 6 hours of sleep per night. All diplomacy has failed, the landlord doesn't care, and obviously ear plugs don't work (they only cancel out high frequencies; not the earthquake-like BANGS and BOOMS this guy does every day, night, all the time).
I have calculated that over the last couple of years, I have missed the equivalent of about 860 000 hours of sleep. Some people say it's a "sleep debt" that I will need to catch up on eventually, while others say your body can ajust to missing sleep. All I know is that I try to snooze (i.e. nap) every where I go, every opportunity I can.
So if you can get 8 hours of sleep per night, consider yourself lucky and enjoy the rejuvenating effects this does to your body, because some us aren't allowed such a luxury.
Cheers
PS: The law states that paying a rent every month DOES NOT mean you have the right for peace and quiet, but rather that you have the right to store your stuff in a space. Seriously, that's the truth.

As many as you need. Your body will tell you what it needs. Different individuals need different times. But at you age, usually one needs less sleep to function properly. But you should get enough that you can perform during the day without being sludgiest etc. Go to bed and if you can't fall asleep then you know that your most likely not ready to sleep. So the next night go to bed later and then if you fall asleep more rapidly then that's the time to do it every night. Now if you have to get up at a certain hour morning and you don't feel rested, then it means you not getting enough sleep so go to bed earlier etc. Find your own sleep pattern.

Minimum of 7 hours one should sleep because during your sleep your entire body gets relaxed and u will feel fresh after a good sleep. So dont reduce your sleeping hours..Very important for a human being to get regular sleep.
Early to bed and early to rise is an very good policy..
One important news:over sleeping is also not good for health.

8 hours is the recommended amount. Everyone is different, some can do with less, others get extremely cranky and tired if they don't get enough.
