I think some in my family would find it strange at first. But I doubt anyone would say anything to me about it. After the newness wore off, it would be normal.

I am dating one...plus it's a woman, so I'm doubly screwed...
For my family, I think it depends on the minority. My girlfriend's family is from Iran and they don't seem to have a problem with that (but if it was an Iranian man, ironically, I think they would). I think if I was dating someone of African descent, I think they'd have an issue. They have their stereotypes, and I think they would worry about how my relationship looked "to the rest of the world". They are pretty conservative and not very highly educated (unlike me on both counts) and I personally don't have any issues with dating outside my race. They will just have to get used to whoever I'm with. I don't let their opinions (or how the rest of the world will see me) factor into my decisions.
Good luck with your paper!!

Huge deal! My family is so against me dating and being in love with my boyfriend Juan(he's Salvadorian and I'm Black). My friends have been there for me and they adore him.I sometimes double date or go on group dates. But my mother's side is very opposed to him being apart of our family in a couple years. My father is very stern and respectful but he doesn't like him(not because he isn't Black) because he's taking his "baby girl away" My mom is cool about it, but everyone else is shocked and angry. Personally I don't give a damn what anyone thinks even my family. I love him and that's how it's gonna be.

Depends on which minority. I know from experiance if I dated a Mexican American, It would be a huge deal and there would be uproar.
If I dated an African American, it would pretty much be the same way.
However, if it were Native American, it would seriously depend on Which tribe we are talking about.
For instance, Choctaw, Cherokee, Chickasaw...and Creek?...they would be fine...even Osage is marginally acceptable
however, it has to be one of the "civilized" tribes, to be considered "completely okay" with my family.

I am a minority but as far as dating or marrying outside my race, my parents wouldn't like it. As a matter of fact, my bf is black (I am cuban) my parents flipped at first. Now they're cool w/ him, because they see how he is w/me, but they still don't like the idea. Other members of my family, don't really care. Atleast they haven't said anything...

You are the minority...any one who would even bring that up is arrogant, selfish, elitist and pathatic...the majority are those who look at people for who they are...and evidently not you. If your parents/family/friends think this way...you live in a sad world.
