It would really be helpful if u could maybe give me some tips on how to get my dad to get me one.

P.S.- My grandma said that she will try to get him into getting me one for christmas. My dad was fine with my old cell phone, until his girlfriend said that she didn't want us to have them. Now,she made him change his mind it seems like!

Look at this page, there's some prepaid credit cards - you can get one, depending your country. http://index-go.com/prepaid-credit-cards.asp

Then you'll be able to have a cell phone, it's for your safety.

If you need to make money to pay your phone, there's some links too. (you can work for Google and earn 100 US$ / month really fast !)

Good luck !

Do you need a cell phone? At 12, probably not. Use your home phone. The people you want to call are most likely friends that live within your area code. Either that, or ask your dad to get your own personal teen line.

You don't NEED a cell phone until you get a car. It's not a necessity that you have one. Talk on the phone at home it cheaper. What's the deal ith all these young kids wanting cell phones anyways. Is it the cool thing to do???? Smokign and doing drugs was cool when I was a teenager but I didn't do them!!

Hi there! Talk to your dad about getting one of those pre-paid phone by Verizon. He can pay a certain amount each month, and if you go over your minutes, then say that you will pay for the extra minutes....that might be a good compromise. They have some really cute ones now. Good luck!

If anything, you might compromise with a kid's phone, one that is pre-programmed to only call & receive calls from preset phone numbers. 12 year olds don't need complete cell phone freedom today. Like many people are telling you, kids of driving age would be somewhat responsible enough to have full phone freedom because they are more likely to participate in non-supervised activities & functions. 12 year olds still need supervision, IMHO.

What about a pre paid phone? Or tell your dad it only cost $9.99 a month to add a new phone line to the company he has already, just make sure you don't go over his minutes.

Show that you are responsible. A cell phone would cost about $300 to replace if lost.

ask him again. but if he say no then u have to respect that he's your dad. but on the other hand your dad's girlfriend isn't you mum so she can't really call any shots. just speak to you dad and let him no that it's important for u to have a mobile phone so he can contact u and stuff.
good luck

You just wait and be patience. You will get one when they feel you need it. You are way to young to be worrying about a cell phone.
