My husband and I work at the same school. We had an argument and split up. Days later he asked a teacher out on a date, they did not end up going out. We are now back together but not living together. What would you think, or do?

I would consider it neither. It is just the normal conditioned reaction in this type of situation. I would suggest, that as the teachers that you are, you do a little more to get all the socially imposed cobwebs out of your head and heart. There comes a time in a persons adult existence when you have to discard the social and sexual values that no longer do anything for you but confuse. There are many moral values that do nothing but create an artificial sense of guilt and remorse. Get away from the romantically inclined notions that what you experienced was 'normal'. As mature people you have to get past the BS and think of the practicality of being logical, straightforward and tolerant. The argument you sustained was probably over another of the myriad values that rule your life. Use the formal education you have, the common sense that is latent and the integrity you possess to actually love each other and not just 'be in love' with each other.

Personally, I wonder 'why' he'd ask someone out on a date so soon after your split, even though the date never took place. Do you know if he's asked anyone else out? This is something you might want to ask not only yourself, but him as well. Are you on the track to reconciliation?? You do say you're back together, but not living together.
Attempting to date someone else so soon after a split is definite cause for concern. Also, you say you had an argument and split up? Just because you had an argument???????????
Tread carefully..and just ASK.

Sounds like this one was revenge. Something done in the heat of the moment that he probably really regrets. However, it would make me wonder if he would do it again the next time you get into a nasty argument.

Maybe you guys should look into some rules for "fighting fair". This book "Fight Fair - Winning at Conflict without Losing at Love" is great and is actually hilarious. My husband actually WANTED to read it. LOL

I really hope you guys work things out. Go get marriage counseling if you need to. It will really help and doesn't mean that you are a failure. It means that you care enough about each other to make it work. Take care!

What was the argument about? That bad that you had to split up? You are married, you should be able to work things out and not just walk away from them. Whats to say that this won't happen again. I don't think I quite understand your situation. You are married, you are supposed to work things out, if he loved you, he wouldn't have asked out another teacher days later. He might be trouble and you might end up with a bigger heartache.

It seems like there was no real harm done. Don't put your trash out on the curb if you don't want it getting picked up, ya dig?
For him to ask someone out that quick, raises a red flag. If I were you, I'd say nothing, and do nothing, but I would be very observant. Watch for changes in his behavior and personality. Better to be silent and have him thinking you aren't concerned about his plan to date, so that he won't know he is being observed.

feel bad, and knowing me I would'nt be able to let it go. But if you wanna move on in a healthy relationship with the man you love, you had better. Think positive, and smile. Its life, if all decisions were easy, none of us would complain!

it's not cheating if you split up prior to him asking someone else out...it's diversion or rebound....just my opinion

This is doomed.
Your not back together if your not living together. Your immaturity is astonishing. Please get a divorce before you have kids and drag them through it too.
