boy these people have great ideas. how about a big Hershey's kiss. you can do a paper mache filled trash bag gather it filled with paper to help form. kinda tear drop shape you can form as you cover it with the paper. use liquid starch so that it wont spoil like flour paste. after it drys cut it long ways like you would the shape of a pistachio is. place it on you like a billboard on both sides tie. you can either color it like a unwrapped chocolate or cover with foil as a covered one. the tag can be any strip of white material or a few fabric softener sheets together. this costume would also hide that your pregnant leaving people to guess if you are or not. even thee mystery can be great, especially if you go to a area and bump into someone you haven't seen for a while.
walking on your 7th month, great idea it will help when labor comes. but with the timing stay warm, avoid getting sick. good luck and have tones of fun. to help boost your immune system get some peppermint Altoids, drink orange juice also.

Go as an hors d'oeuvre!
Wear tan, white, ivory or cream-colored tights (your toothpicks!). To make your "olive," take a black plastic trash bag, run elastic around the top to gather it (it will be the bottom of your costume!), cut a slit in the bottom of the bag (to stick your head through) and a couple on the sides for your arms. Tuck in any square corners at your shoulders to round off your "olive." Wear a black, long-sleeved t-shirt or turtle neck so that your arms blend in with the "olive." Your tummy will "stuff" most of the front of your costume, stuff the backside with cotton batting or crumpled newspaper, etc. (To keep the stuffing from slipping out the bottom of your costume, put it in another trash bag and secure it to your shirt.) Wear a flat red beret (pepperoni), or create some other kind of "food" hat (round red = tomato, orange chunk = cheese, green melon, etc.) There are lots of variations you could do with this ... it's cheap, and it shouldn't be too hard to find or create the other items for your "hors d'oeuvre."
Have Fun! ~B..

A bowling ball would be fun. You could use a red sweatshirt and black or white tights. Just attach 3 circular sew on patches to the sweatshirt to resemble finger holes.
Have some go with you dressed up as the pin!.
You could also go as a watermelon. Just use green sweatshirt and pants. Add dark green felt to the watermelon for stripes.
Staple artificial greenery to the shirt for the vine/leaves. You can also add a green knit cap with a leaf or two stapled or glued to it.

How about the Pillsbury Dough Boy, but make it a Dough Girl and wear an apron with the saying "Something Lovin' In the Oven."
Honestly, the present idea would be great, and of course the pumpkin, but this time next year you'll have your own little pumpkin...congratulations!!

I was watching this sitcom where the character wasn't pregnant, but the actress was. To "hide" her belly, she dressed up as a birthday present. It was so cute and original. She wore a cardboard box with wrapping paper on it and a ribbon, and on her hair, she wore more curly, shimmery ribbon like a hat.
My second suggestion is Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz and have your mate as one of the other characters, like the Tinman, Lion or Scarecrow. That would be hilarious!

Along the lines of the Earth Mother suggestion above...
My mother, way back when, dressed like that when she was pregnant, in a long flowing mumu and a necklace of flowers, like a true hippy. On her back there was a sign, "Somebody fooled with Mother Nature!"
a la 1970s margarine commercial "it's not nice to fool Mother Nature" - LOL

I went as Miss Conception last year it was soooo funny and I got tons of comments. You just do the standard Beauty Queen stuff and make sure you wear a tight dress so people can get the full effect of the tummy!

My favorite costume I've seen for a pregnant woman is an oven. Make it so the door opens and you have a bun in it. "Bun in the oven". If I remember correctly she won first place with the costume.
