I have 2 sons...

My first was 6lbs, 6oz.
My second was 7 lbs 13 ounces (and I had morning sickness the entire time--yet he was the bigger baby)...

All my friends who have daughters--their babies were bigger than my boys.

I guess its genetics.

No. At birth, children are virtually identical (except for the obvious). Boys will grow just as fast as girls and vice versa until about the time puberty sets in. Then the hormones start to kick in and drive the growth. Boys will put on more muscle mass and grow taller more quickly. Girls will begin to develop the obvious features that make a girl a woman.

So, no, the sex of the child at birth has nothing to do with it. My first (boy) 4lb 11oz, second (girl) 5lb 5oz, third (girl again) 5lb 7oz, forth (another boy) 7lb 8oz. Doesn't matter.

My grandson weighed just under seven pounds and my granddaughter weighed just under eight pounds at birth. The grandson was first born.

My daughter weighed about five and a half pounds (full term baby) and my eldest son weighed eight pounds at birth. Our youngest son weighed seven and three-quarter pounds. Daughter was first born.

It would seem on the surface that first children are lighter at birth than their later siblings. This could be a great topic for a statistical study. Do you agree??

I have a boy and a girl my son was 7lbs 2oz when he was born and my daughter was 8lbs so i think it just depends on the baby and they are 5 and 3 now and weigh both at 38lbs.
