why do you think martin Luther's ideas might have been so attractive to the common person ?

because he showed them that they had direct access to god. they didn't need the pope and the "church" to get to god. he told them that they were the church.

Because the common person lives on hope and he was offering hope.

I don't know, he wrote a book called "On Jews and their Lies" though, maybe lots of his fans were anti-semitic?
