I would go with the soft pastels and/or earth tones. Makes one feel very relaxed after spending the day @ the salon. Good Luck with your business. :-)

Salon Wall Colors

One of the coolest salons I've ever been in had murals on the walls, sort of a celestial scene with lots of blues and purples. Anything that gives the customer something to look at is good. If you're going for something more traditional, a nice clean, bright white looks very professional and makes the space feel large. For the make-up room you would probably want white, because you don't want the walls to cast any colors on the clients that might affect the make-up application. For the massage and waxing rooms, I would go with something soothing - either a light blue, minty green, or a lavender. Green is an especially calming color. A yellow or orange might be good for the hair styling room because these colors excite people and cheer them up (getting a hair cut can be rather boring), just avoid anything too bright.

As a massage therapist, I like to go botanical. In my room, I used reed fence ($20 for a 6x20 ft roll) to line my wall all the way around the room. Wire snippers are all you need to make cutouts for light switches and whatnot. Then some well placed tropical plants and flowy white window sheers on windows and in doorways really work. Also use candles and water fountains to create ambiance. The other therapists' clients kept wanting to get their massage in my room!

I's pick a nice neutral off white like eggshell or ecru, but not too much yellow in it because it will affect how the hair colors and makeup are perceived

I watch a lot of HGTV and there is a show that is called GET COLOR. I love this show they say that sandy browns and rich blues are relaxing colors. I think those colors could be good. Good louck with your salon.

It would depend on if you're going for a trendy look or a relaxing atmosphere.

be careful...I would use white with colored accents. ANY color will affect the tones (natural and artifical) in customers hair.
