Conservatives want what is right, but not necessarily what is fair

Example: As a business owner, I should have the right to hire whom I want, and charge whatever I want for my products/services. However, hiring along personal prejudices and gouging the public isn't fair.

Liberals want what is fair, but not necessarily what is right.

Example: As a minority, I am sometimes discriminated against while applying for a job, school, etc. Employers and schools should have to accept at least a few applicants from each demographic to ensure fairness. However, you are limiting an employer's/school's right to accept the most qualified people, and limiting their right to choose who's hands their company/school is in.

No. You've got it wrong.

Conservatives want equality of PROCESS.

Liberals want equality of OUTCOME.

I don't entirely agree.

Gouging the public is not right nor fair when it comes to necessities or profiteering from a disaster or war situation. You can hire whomever you want but discriminating based on race, religion etc. is also neither right nor fair. In this day and age, it is not good business sense either-- diverity of workforce does provide value to a company. The goal in hiring is to find the best person for the job but there are other benefits to hiring a diverse workforce. I'm not talking about quotas either as I don't belive in those. But given that for many years, people of color or other walks of life were not hired simply becuase of their background- not qualificaitions. This still happens to today in hiring and even in lending situations even when backrounds are similar.

Liberals do TRY to do what is fair AND what is right. None of these efforts are perfect and problems do occur. Oddly enough, the most fervent conservative will say, X demographic should get out and work, is one of the first who will shoot down efforts to get demographic X a better chance at being productive in society. If you're a white male, there aren't a whole lot of societal or systemic things limiting you. If you're a minority, there are plenty.

Well I disagree with the premise that conservatives work on some moral code when it comes to business. Most conservatives want business to be able to press their advantage on the public with as little government interference as possible, and for large businesses to push their advantage on smaller businesses as much as possible. Conservatives oppose worlplace safety regulations, environmental regulations, employee organization rights, antitrust laws, and consumer protection laws that restrict businesses from being able to press their size/power/negotiating advantage to the fullest extent possible.

Liberals on the other hand think that the government has a much larger role to play in making sure that the "losers" in a winner/loser scenario have a resonable redress of grievances, and minimum standards. You will see liberals (ralph nader liberals, not hillary clinton liberals, as she is very conservative) pushing for laws such as Mandatory Severance pay for laid off workers, pay distribution laws such as a company can't pay an employee less than 1/100 of what any other employee makes, or overtime laws that require time and a half pay after 40 hours, or requirements that large employers who have a big impact on the economy report more about their internal company workings to local state and federal government because everyhting they do has such a huge impact on localities, etc...

I say just be fair and go by the person's potential. As for pricing, if you gouge too many people you will soon be out of business because they won't come back. Just be fair in both instances.

I couldn't agree with you more, so much so, I really don't know much else to add. I don't see anything changing anytime soon either. Unless, one day lobbyists, legislators, and votes ever decide fair isn't necessarily right 100% of the time.

Disagree.

Gouging the public? You watch too many news shows. I have a responsibility to get the highest return on my investment. Period. If I am not competitive, people will not purchase from me.

Employers and schools should not have to accept at least a few applicants from each demographic. That ensures unfairness. What value does diversity have, in and of itself? None. Period.

Soleil Noir, I couldn't agree more. Equality of opportunity, not outcome, determines the inherent fairness in any system.

I agree that Liverpool ought to be up there competing with us for the identify... on the 2nd it rather is purely 3 communities competing for the identify and it rather is going to likely be extra aggressive than that. Liverpool have been close final season and ought to have an identical danger this season yet watching their place interior the table it seems unlikely. confident, it rather is my opponents that are slipping up yet i could extremely have a extra competitve season than final season...4-5 communities going for it may be very stable. yet i think of any fan could rather prefer to work out their opponents dropping factors and dropping video games.

Disagree. I think both conservatives and liberal's (as most anyone else) would want what is both fair and right. They merely have different opinions on the what that means.
