Oakland's biggest problem was the offensive scheme it was running and its failure to make any adjustments. Oakland's offensive line was horrendous. Absolutely horrible. San Diego could have put me into the game and I would have had 2.5 sacks. The bad offensive line was exacerbated by the offensive play calling. Oakland's O.C. kept calling deep routes for the Oakland receivers coupled with seven step drops for Aaron Brooks. This meant that the offensive line would need to provide at least 3-4 seconds of solid protection to allow Brooks to complete the drop back into the pocket and allow the WR's to get separation in their routes. Oakland failed to adjust to the constant blitzing of San Diego. Oakland should have tried for 3-5 yards per pass - quick hits, slants over the middle, screens - rather than 10-20 yards per pass it was going for. Oakland's defense actually showed some signs of life in the second half after giving up a lot of big plays to LT. The Oakland O-line should be ashamed of itself. Coach Art Shell, a former O-lineman himself, said he took out Brooks not because of the quality of play but rather because he was concerned that he would be crushed by the Chargers D. Embarassment.

I'm in the Raider Nation. They had an off game. If you include the preseason, they're 4-2 this year. Can't say the same for the Giants and some other supposedly hot teams.

They got beat by a much better team! The Chargers are one of the best teams in the AFC. The Raiders aren't! Period.

They played the way they will likely play all year, bad. I feel bad for Art Shell who I feel is a really class individual. I'm not sure a new coach is the answer. Better players with better attitudes may be the answer.

Raiders suck. Their owner is getting senile. He always has been a jerk. It is always entertaining to watch all those fans dress up in those black and silver skeleton costumes, though. Chargers looked pretty good with a young team.

The offensive line needs a lot of work; it ain't the coaching. And I like Art Shell's idea of making them run laps for every penalty they make.

Same thing that happened to Tampa Bay and Green Bay Packers.

I'm not sure why they keep getting these recycled coaches. Art Shell didn't have a winning record last time he was a head coach.
