I know that if a stranger was raped, you would rather see the rapist go free (even gloating to reporters that he did it and is getting away with it) than see one of his rights violated. But if it were your own daughter, would you still rather see the rapist get away with it than see one of his right get violated and him punished?

No, I do not think that a woman that became pregnant due to a rape should be forced to carry the baby if she did not want to. But that has nothing to do with the question. The question has to do with the liberals' unconditional love for criminals, and how they do not care about victims.

They would wail and moan about how it is society's fault this man raped their daughter. The man was poor, didn't have a job - what else is there for him to do?
It is okay though - they would just abort any baby and go on hugging trees and embracing gays. Hey, what if she was raped by another woman?

As a moral conservative - I think abortion is wrong, EXCEPT in the case of rape or health of the mother.
It should not be used like you libs use it - birth control. Ever hear of the pill or condoms?

You're apparently not very clear on the difference between political affiliation and socipathy is, but I'll answer anyway. I'm a liberal, and yes, I would rather see anyone who commits any crime go through due process and the court system than allow innocent people to be tried, convicted, and killed without the rule of law. Regardless of whether you're raping a family member, killing a family member, stealing from a family member, etc. Law is a simple matter - either we have it and enforce those laws, or we don't have them and chaos reigns. I'd be furious, angry, and out of my mind if a family member were hurt that way...but I am not god and it is not my place to go doling out punishments for god.

Two sides of the same coin:

Conservatives, if your own son was accused of raping a liberal's daughter, would you want your son to have the best possible defense, represented by a competent attorney?

Or just take the prosecutor's word for it, accept whatever sentence the judge pronounced, and let your son rot in jail?

This country was founded on various principles, one of which is that every person is allowed to a fair trial by jury by their peers and are innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. OF COURSE, any human being would want their children safe and protecting and want justice brought to anyone who hurt them. But I'd want to make sure to throw the RIGHT person in jail.

Okay first off get your facts straight. Not all liberals are like "Oh yes let him go free!!!!" I am a liberal and I think they should be put in jail, for the rest of there life even. The death penalty is what Im against. So many people are killed innocently.

Besides if I knew for a FACT that he did it and he was some heartless killer guy. I would kill him myself, plain and simple.

I think this answers this question quite well.

BERNARD SHAW, Moderator: The first question goes to Governor Dukakis; you have two minutes to respond. Governor, if Kitty Dukakis were raped and murdered, would you favor an irrevocable death penalty for the killer?

GOVERNOR DUKAKIS: No, I don't, Bernard, and I think you know that I've opposed the death penalty during all of my life. I don't see any evidence that it's a deterrent and I think there are better and more effective ways to deal with violent crime. We've done so in my own state and it's one of the reasons why we have had the biggest drop in crime of any industrial state in America, why we have the lowest murder rate of any industrial state in America.

Boy I bet his wife felt good about that answer.

Ugh, I can't believe they asked Dukakis such an obviously loaded question. "When was the last time you beat your wife?" sort of stuff. Look, obviously, the correct response is outrage and saying you would want the bastard killed, etc., but the desire for personal vengeance does not make for a just society. If we let everyone act out their emotions, we would all be pretty damn f**ked.

All criminals will face the full brunt of the law, according to the justice system established in these United States.

Conservatives -- if your daughter was raped, would you force her to carry the baby to term? And would you readily adopt it into its family? And would you make sure that it knew its father, as the family unit is a primary value for conservatives?

Yes, of course they would. They believe that no one's rights should be violated no matter what happens. (Can you hear the violin music playing in the background?) Even if he gets off and is free to rape again or return to their daughter, it is a victory so long as none of his rights were violated. Snifff! Snif! Isn't that beautiful?
