I am best friends with a guy. I just want him to be treated right. He is seriously dating some girl who is a recovering drug addict and has other past issues. He says she has changed. He completely supports her she lives with him and he gives her everything she wants. I am probably more involved with their relationship then I should be. He seems to want me around a lot and when I mention to him that she does or says things that are not relationship appropriate he doesnt see my point he always defend her action.

This type of lesson is best learned the hard way, unfortunately. I would say if you've already approached him about it, then back off. If he did take your advice, it might open him up to resenting you with thoughts of 'what could have been'. Kudos for caring about your friend so much, but some things you can't teach except through first hand experience.

Not to be rude, but you seem to be a little jealous. If he wants to give her everything she wants and so on, then it's not for you to say. It's what he wants to do for her. She may have changed. If she hasn't, I am sure you can get proof that she hasn't. Until then, there is really nothing you can do. You need to find out why he wants you all up in his relationship with another woman. He is going to defend her no matter what. She is the girlfriend. So my advice is, find proof that she has not changed and try not to get too involved. You may be the one that gets hurt in the end.

Sometimes the best way to handle a situation like this is to remove yourself from them. I mean let him come to your house and try not to be around her alone. You're right not to say anything because if he's into the way you say he won't really want to hear it, and she may lie and say you're after her or just jealous of their relationship. Just be there for him because if she is faking it he will need you in the long run to help him when he finds out the truth about her.
The best way to be a friend is to know when to back off and keep your mouth shut.

do you have enough basis for your claim?

i understand he is your friend and you are only concerned but ho old is yur friend anyway?

is he not in the right age to make decisions for himself?

your duty as friend requires you to accompany him through whatever he is going thru.yes, a little reminder about some actions... but really, i guess youve told him enough.

when the worst happens, be there for him and tell "dont tell me i didnt warn you!"

he loves her, and love has a tendency to blind people...just continue to be his friend..he will learn eventually, if this girl is really using him...but just because she had a drug problem doesn't automatically make her scum
