Personally, I think it is because all these women are very insecure about the fact that they really are very poor slutty tramps that wish that a rich good looking guy would fall in love with them so that they can go shopping at the most expensive stores in the world with unlimited money. I don't know, I could be wrong, but is sure does seem like these women identify with Julia's character.

Sorry, lame, lame, lame movie. Julia Roberts wasn't even hot enough for it and they had to use a body double. Very sad. Plus, she really isn't a Pretty Woman in my opinion.

So, basically, according to your brilliant hypothesis, all women identify with the female main character of all love movies.
You, sir, are a twit.
ALL women dream of having a knight in shining armor come to their rescue, WHETHER OR NOT they need it financially, physically, or mentally. The movie isn't even about money. But since you're a man, who probably thinks all women are golddiggers, you wouldn't realize that, would you?

So the women you're talking about are prostitutes? Because if so then I guess you may be right but I have never been a prostitute or anything like one for that matter and I liked the movie because it was a love story that had a good little moral to it.

Most women I know (including myself) love love stories. I think this particular movie was special for several reasons - alot of women (including myself) have followed Richard Gere during his career, and he's still pretty hot. His character was successful, but he wasn't that happy with his life. I found it interesting to see Julia Roberts play the role she did in the movie. And, although it was totally unrealistic, it made me feel good that, in one fell swoop, Julia's character was able to turn her life around, as well as Richard Gere's character found personal happiness. It's definately a feel good movie that a good majority of women love to see.
Your definition of women in your post points to your general stereotyping of women. Who made you the Judgment God?

i think of human beings block the indisputable fact that she's a prostitute, from their recommendations and consider the movie as a love tale, the place a prosperous, good-looking, billionaire, rescues a down on her success, captivating lady from a harsh existence on the line, particularly of seeing her for what she extremely is, a girl who sells her physique to unusual men for money. I mean in concept, what single lady does no longer choose a prosperous, good-looking guy, sweep them off their ft and blow hundreds of thousands of greenbacks on her? whether, on the comparable time, he picked up a prostitute, which isn't in basic terms unlawful, yet disgusting. With all that mentioned. i like the movie. i think of Julia is captivating in it and Richard is alluring and suitable. I do exactly no longer take it heavily.

Yep. Insecurity & wishing for a knight in shining armour. I didn't get the hype. But I like some mushy movies, like "Somewhere In Time" & "Starman". Maybe I want a time traveller or alien? Hmmmmm....

well, it seems that you are somewhat of a misogynist, but I will still answer your question.
Pretty woman is the classic Cinderella type story where a woman is rescued and protected by a strong man. It is the biological need for women to feel protected and men to protect women.

Richard Gere is hot. nuff said.
Women like underdogs regardless of their station in life. You don't have to be a slut to be an underdog.
Plus there is some good girl power music in that movie and yeah the clothes rock.
