Are parents able to FORCE their minor children to have abortions? Like if the kid doesn't want one? I'm asking because my brother's girlfriend's mom convinced her that she has to get one and she was scheduled for one at 9AM. Today. My brother REALLY wants the baby to be born, put up for adoption, AT LEAST, but Nikki said that she will not have her child put up for adoption because she was molested and abused as a foster child.. Nikki wanted the baby but her stepmom is a total bitchh..

We live in Florida.

They SHOULD be able to, unfortunately they legally cannot unless a judge steps in.

Parents cannot force, but may influence. They usually use threats because they are minors and are afraid. Her only other option is to go to a teen shelter or home and from ehat you are saying that is a fear of hers. Minors/children are usually threatened by their parents telling them they have to leave the home or will be put into the street, and the other parties parent usually don't want to come between the parent and child so they won't let they live with them along with the added responsibility. If your brother is older he can request parental rights. What does Nikki's dad say? He is the one that has control not the step mom!!

You can't FORCE anyone to have an abortion, however, you can talk someone into it. It's nice and all that your brother wants this baby to be born, but he isn't the one who has to carry the child to term. It is possible that his girlfriend realized that she doesn't actually want to have a baby at such a young age, especially since she won't put the child up for adoption. Perhaps she has realized what her life would be like if she has this baby and she doesn't like what she sees. You don't know that she's being forced to do anything, it is entirely possible that she came to this decision on her own.

Dear, a baby is not a toy. Your brother and Nikki are WAY TOO YOUNG to have even contemplated sex let alone having a child then placing it for adoption. My guess is that Nikki will want to keep the child after it is born and that is probably what the stepmom is worried about. And before you call someone a *****, calm down and zip your lip! She may not think much of Mr. Stud, your brother, either.

Absolutly not a parent cannot force their child to have an abortion and shouldn't! It is considered a choice and she should have told her parents she would not involve heself in such an act of selfishness and denial. Abortion should not be condoned, We have been teaching our children it is ok when we should be teaching them how to make correct choices to begin with, The baby involved had no say, what would He/she have been if allowed to live? we'll never know, I will get critisism on this one but for those of you uneducated in the matter please visit Abort73.com before dissing me. The truth is there, be brave enough to face it with open eyes! The parents in this case are wrong My mother allowed me to keep my child at 16, I was young but I had made my own bed..... She is now 12 years olda straight A student, Tall blonde, perfect, and The best choice I ever made. Where would I be without her?

Here in Georgia, pregnant minors are emancipated and cannot be forced by their parents to have an abortion. But you said the appointment was for 9:00 today so it's probably too late by now to do anything about it. I just hope she can live with what she had to do. It's a lot harder than it seems.

This is a tough one. If the child is under age maybe the parent does have a right to tell the child what to do, but in a way I don't agree that a parent should force the child to have an abortion. It seems to me that Nikki wants this child, right? She should decide herself what she wants to do, but abortion is committing murder and its not a salution. Let her keep her baby.

A pregnant minor has the same rights as does an adult. She cannot be forced to have an abortion, place the child for adoption or relinquish her parental rights. If her parents do not choose to support her decision and she finds herself in need of help she can contact state social services for assistance. She may wish to visit http://www.plannedparenthood.org for information and support.

FYI, it is not true, nor has it ever been, that PP makes any attempt whatsoever to convince any female of any age to have an abortion.

ur bro has a parental right over the baby even if it isnt born yet both parents have to agree on the outcome of the child married or not. all he needs to do is face her parents and tell them that he has been checking into it and legally he has every right to fight them against this matter. and if he does end up having to fight them over it then in every state there is a thing acalled legal aid find the number for it and get a lawyer.if he is too young and ur parents want the baby or want the baby to go up for adoption then there is also a grandparents rights law born or not born yet ur family has just as much controll over the baby as them

Doesn't seem like it's your problem really. And ultimately, the choice is the mom-to-be's. I'm pro-choice, and personally I believe it's a much more horrible thing to carry a child for 9 months and then give it up. It hurts the mother and the child in the long run.
