We (husband and I) plan to start trying for a baby immediately after I quit taking the pill.

I have heard the hormones take a few months to leave your system after taking it for a long time.

Is this true? If so, will it hurt anyone if I got pregnant right away?

I thought the hormones leave your body ASAP and that's why women can get pregnant if they miss a pill.

Thanks!

No, it's not unhealthy. You can try right away, it just might not happen. The hormones clear your body pretty quickly (which is why skipping pills ups your pregnancy risk) but some women still take a few months to resume ovulation. Also, long-time pill users may not produce fertile cervical mucous right away; that can take a couple of months.

Every female's body is different. It is unhealthy to conceive immediately after getting off the pill and yes it does take a few months for your body to completely release of the synthetic hormones left over from the pill especially if you were on it for a long time. Most doctor's recommend waiting a month or two after getting off birth control to even start trying to conceive. It is unhealthy because the pill makes sure you get a period every month and when you are pregnant you definitely don't want to have a regular period because that means you will be shedding the lining of your uterus where the baby is supposed to be developing. However some women do claim to have regular periods through the first few months of pregnancy.
The hormones do not leave your body asap and the reason that women can get pregnant if they miss a pill is because the pill is 98% effective if taken every single day at the same time, otherwise your chances of pregnancy increase. Good luck!

You can get pregnant right away after stopping the pill and some women do. However, some women are still affected by the hormones and it takes them a few months. It took us about 3 months to get pregnant once I quit taking the pill. My sister got pregnant ON the pill. LOL Her little boy is just fine. I think the only thing the hormones affect is how long it takes you to get pregnant and every woman's body reacts differently. You don't need to worry if you get pregnant right away, though. The baby will be just fine. Good luck and have fun getting pregnant! ;-)

It is not unhealthy for you and your Baby to get pregnant right after you got off the pill. The hormones in a pill are hormones to tell your body that you are pr regnant even if you are not. This are not "dangerous "hormones which would harm you or the baby.Meaning that these hormones don't take a long time to get out of your body. That's one reason women are getting pregnant when they have missed one pill and they should always take another birth control

Not necessarily so would it hurt your child. My sister conceived the month after and there's nothing wrong with my nephew who is now on the honor roll in his second year of high school.

Yes, if you miss a couple of pills in a row you could possibly become pregnant but the odds are low. That's why you should continue the pill taking it the same time every day--to regulate your system and to not forget.

No, it is not unhealthy. I've known several people who have done this and their babies were perfectly fine. The amount of time that it takes for hormones to leave your system can vary, and the worst side effect is that your cycle may not be regular at first; it may take a few months for it to go back to "normal", and again this is not a problem for some women. Good luck!

I conceived a month after going off birth control pills & had a perfectly healthy baby!

It can take up to three months for the hormones to leave your body. My sister in law got pregnant on the pill & her children are healthy too.

I don't know what the logic is behind waiting 3 months--maybe just to let your body settle back in it's natural cycle. I got pregnant right after I got off the pill, but I wasn't taking them for very long. I read that the birth control pills will not affect your baby, even if you accidently take them while you are pregnant. Just let nature take its course; you'll get pregnant when it's meant to be.

All variants of the pill act to mimic the initial stages of pregnancy - usually by providing the body with a synthetic analog of progesterone, plus sometimes estrogen. This fools the body into thinking it doesn't need to ovulate, but will not in any way interfere with a normal pregnancy, which will result in progesterone production anyway. So - if you get off the pill and are able to ovulate and get pregnant right away, you'll be fine - your body will continue acting as it normally would.

I conceived within a month after going off the pill and I had a very healthy pregnancy and son. The only problem might be if you don't know that you are pregnant and continue taking birth control.
