I doing research, and I need to know of a web site that will define the what is "legal" wise a violent crime in the State of California. I need current information as this definition changes from time to time. Thank you to all that assist me.

That's the website with the California laws, includinding the Penal Code which defines all crimes.

A crime would be "violent" if it used force or threat of immediate force.

Different code sections define violent crimes for different purposes. Check out (among others) Penal Code § 667, Penal Code § 288, Penal Code § 654, and Bus. & Prof.Code § 7500.1
