paramedics don't need to go to college. To become a paramedic in most states you must have EMS experience (usually means an EMT-B certification), and apply for a paramedic course. Most places will offer it as a two year associates degree program, but some school offer it as a bachelor's degree. You must be at least 18 to start the program in most states that I know of.
Nursing requires either an ASN or a BSN, an associates or bachelor's degree. Associates degrees are again two year programs, and a bachelor's program is four. If you want to become a nurse, at your age, you'll just want to take the four year BSN program, and not the two year one. If you ever want to pursue an advanced nursing degree, you'll need the BSN, and some nursing specialties require it as well.

At age 16 you can go to EMT Class 3 days a week for 6 weeks over the summer, take an exam and get your EMT B
Volunteer on a first aid squad to get experience
Then study at a community college for 1 year for you EMT P
Nursing
Finish school, then go onto college and get your degree in nursing. A 1 year program you can get a LPN, a 2 year program an RN and a 4 year college degree a BSRN.
With a BSRN you can then go on and get a Masters degree.
I suggest you get a BS in Nursing but get a Masters in something else like Business or Marketing or Management.
In a hospital or healthcare facility you have to decide what you like to do in Nursing which you will get exposed to while in school.
Geriatrics, Emergency Medicine, Home Care, Flight Nursing, OPerating Room/Surgery, etc..
