I have Windows XP Media Center Ed, and I want to uninstall it because alot of the functions aren't working properly. A few months ago, I did a sys restore, and all that did was make a copy of my corrupted XP. I need to make a clean slate, and start over. I need help with this.

I wanted to add also that I do not have the CD-rom. XP media came pre-loaded. Also, I have created boot CD's before, and it always requires me to create so many of them. Is there a way to keep it at a minimum?

Most new computer systems are preconfigured to boot from the cdrom. In older systems, you need to goto into the BIOS to setup booting from the cdrom

After configuring the system for booting from a CD, the Windows Setup screen appears.

At this point, Setup is loading the driver files it needs to continue with installation.

The "Welcome to Setup" screen appears with the option of Installing Win XP, Repair a previous installation, or Quitting.
Press ENTER to Continue Setup.

The Windows XP license aggreement appears after hitting the Enter key. You must hit " F8 " to agree or the setup will exit.

Under Formatting select Leave Currently File System Settings

Now, it will start copying files over to the harddrive.

Then follow the instructions...

You can do it! \\(^_^)//

You need a couple of things.

1. You need the windows XP cd
2. The drivers for your computer (sound, video, etc)

These are the steps you need to take

1. Put the cd in the drive and restart the computer.
2. After that press F12
3. You will get a list of options, select "Boot from Cd"
4. Follow the onscreen instructions and then you will get two information boxes first press d to delete the information on the hard-drive and the press c to create a new partition.

After that the installation process will begin

Hope it helps you

You can just reinstall it...if you want a "clean slate" you will lose everything that was on your computer. Just insert the Windows XP CD and boot to it. It will ask you if you want to format, select yes with NTFS. This will erase your hard drive and start the install for Windows.

you can uninstall XP from the menu of original CD. But I dont think it will work properly.
Better is installing a new system from CD. if you have a copy of all your drivers this will take almost your 1 hour but easiest way!

Just insert the disk in your computer, turned it off. When you restart your computer it should start reading the disk and it should ask your “what do you want to do”? Instead of asking to restore the system, choose reinstall the operating system.

If the computer does not start from the disk, go to my computer. Select the disk drive were the disk is, (d:, e:, f: or whatever the case may be). There, you should see an archive that says “setup”. Double click on it and you should follow the same instructions mentioned before.

If you have the installation CDs or DVDs, use them to reinstall XP. That will take care of removal and reinstallation. If you do not have those CDs or DVDs, there is a program in the start menu that you can use to create a set. I can't remember where it is exactly, but it isn't hard to find.

format the disc and use a new boot disc, a non corrupted version of course, u can back up ur data, or store em in a different drive, other than the one containing the XP, and format just this drive containing XP. that means u format only one drive, and no need for partitioning.
