Usually, the 'position' of a number in a system of 10's indications how many multiples of 10 that number is, and we go from right to left...
the 3 is in the ones place and so is 3
the 4 is in the tens place and so is 40
the 5 is in the hundreds place and so is 500
the 6 is in the thousands place and so is 6,000
the 7 is in the tens of thousands place and so is 70,000
and the 8 is in the hundreds of thousands place and is 800,000
so we say that this number is (in long hand) 8 hundred and seventy-six thousand, 5 hundred and forty-three
