E85 is a new flex fuel being sold at major gas stations like BP and others. E85 is 85% ethanol, 15% unleaded gasoline, but you shouldn't have to worry about it being in your car. It's not as readily available as it may seem. They still dont have it by where i live. By volume, most gas (not including E85) contains about 5% ethanol already, and is not harmful to older cars in small amounts. Larger percentages CAN harm older cars. You really have nothing to worry as long as you fill up with normal gasoline. E85 should and is labeled (if its not it's a violation of the law and can bring about many lawsuits). If you want to check what you're putting in your car, check the pump, and even if it's not an E85 pump, it should have what's in the gasoline your buying right next to the octane sticker.

E85 is 85% ethanol gas, it's really getting big in the Midwest. Locally we have several gas stations selling 85% ethanol gas (it's made from corn). usually it's sold at special gas stations. Yes the pump will list how much ethanol is in the gas. There are new flex-fuel vehicles which run on this or regular pump gas. If you'd like more info on E85 check out this site below. It gives lots of info.

E85 consists of 85% ethanol (derived from corn). Gas stations are required to disclose if ethanol or MTBE is used in their gasoline blends. I would advise against using any gasoline with any ethanol content in your vehicle. I own a 1989 Dodge van and when I put any ethanol in it, it runs like $hit, so I could imagine how a 1971 car would run.
