To show what a Manly Man G.W. Bush is. It is also a major cash cow to Bush supporters in the business community. His Father went in with a clear goal, to force Iraq out of Kuwaite, that was accomplished in short order and we came home. Bush has no actual goal for the military to accomplish, and never did. This has left us in the same position we were in during Viet Nam, another war fought solely for the benifit of big business, and with no more hope of success. In Nam the opposition just kept killing until we got tired of the body count and gave up, a fact of which the opposition in Iraq is well aware. Bush's Ministry of Propoganda keeps trying to ignore Nam and pull up images of WW2. The problem is there was no foreign invader in Iraq from which to liberate them. We are the occupying Foreign Invader, which, if you extend the WW2 anology, makes us the Nazis and the so-called Iraqi insurgents the Free French. Each passing month of our presence convinces more and more Iraqis that we never intend, or even intended to leave, that we went in solely to gain control of their oil fields, and the more widespread that belief becomes the less support we will have. Bush has already stated the opinion that we will be there until at least 2009. If that is true it is quite likely that we won't have a friend left in the region except Israel. Sadly, the American people have no one to blame but themselves, we are the ones who gave Bush a second term. Sic transit gloria mundi.

There is no such thing as 'American Military' it is likely that you mean the United Statesian military.

You see, there is no such a thing as ‘American’ nationality, America is not a nation America is a continent with many nations in it. The US never named itself the name of the United States is a designation it comes from the end of the Declaration of Independence, "WE, therefore, the Representatives of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, in GENERAL CONGRESS, Assembled...". The preamble to the U.S. Constitution reiterated the phrase: "We the People of the United States..." (The authors of these two documents probably used the phrase "united states" in place of a list of colonies/states because they remained uncertain at the time of drafting which colonies/states would sign off on the sentiments therein.) The geographic term "America" specifies the states' home on the American continent.

It is therefor incorrect to refer to US citizens as Americans with the intent of denoting citizenship, or the United States as America with the intent of denoting a nation. Americans have a term for US citizens, we are called United Statesians by the rest of Americans, to say American with the intent of denoting citizenship or America when we mean the United States reflects poorly on our attitude towards the 70% of Americans that are not United Statesians.
