I think the responsibility should rest with the parents. Just like educating their children in their religion of choice. I have a real problem with the government assuming the responsibilities of the parent or parents. Do you want the government to decide which religion they should be taught? Or be taught that no religion is acceptable? Do you want the government to decide which are the acceptable morals they should have?

The lack of sex education is what can cause some teens to have unprotected sex and get pregnant. Yes some people have sex despite the education they get in school--I know some. But no sex education at all would be worse. Teens would have sex and not know the risks.

It is more than depressing isn't it? I have to wonder about education in general; nothing seems to work on so many kids in school today. They don't have much of a handle on ANY subject but the systems keep pushing them through. They can't all be related to George B.

I think the purpose of sex ed shouldn't just be about the "plumbing" and the biology of how it all works. If we really want to raise a responsible and informed younger generation, we should discuss ALL the surrounding issues. Schools aren't just for learning math and reading, folks. It's about learning how to be independent, thinking, productive members of society. Sex is certainly a part of that.

I think they shouldn't. i think the parent should teach it. i mean schools give the basics and the technical which are in terms of science which most kids don't listen to anywayThey tell you about how a child is created, but don't give indepth theory or what does what because its usually a one day thing. they don't teach of love, relationships, and layman terms about the actual act of sex itself.

that's the question we must ask ourselves. simply educating people about birth control can do a lot to give people peace of mind, and lower the teen pregnancy rate
