hahahha. very cute. if the insect fly can actually fly, why don't we call a fish a SWIM.

They are; we just shorten things up a bit. Human beings are humans, feline beings are cats, and canine beings are dogs. Things get a bit messy when using the 'beings' tag, so we leave that off in everyday speech.

I think people could totally leave off the "being" part of "human being" and just say "human." I agree with an earlier poster; it probably refers to a sentient being.

But it would be incredibly annoying and amusing to refer to one's cat as a "cat being," perhaps carrying it further and referring to one's couch as the "couch object" and fork as "fork object."

you may call them 'feline beings" or "canine beings" if you like...it is both scientificly and grammaticay correct, you just might sound a little odd.
