Someone using your social security number bounced a check. You better check with social security.

It probably means that a previous check with another company went thru ChexSystem and bounced. Until that issue is cleared up; you will not be able to obtain a bank account with any bank that is affiliated with the ChexSystem. Once you have cleared that information; you should be able to open a bank account with that bank, if it is convenient for you. In order to get this resolved, you should ask the bank for the ChexSystem customer service, call them, provide your SSN and determine whether the issue is legitimate or not. If legitimate, make the payment to clear this information; if not legitimate, then your going to have to prove that you are you and the reason why the unresolved check/bill is not legitimate. Good luck.

That means somewhere along the line there is either a bad check against your account that you or someone else wroyte- or overdrafted account and so it goes thru the system now and your name will show red flags if there is a bad check out there and a bank can refuse to open an account for u based on that. Call the 1-800 number they gave u and u can find out EXACTLY why and when this happenned so u can clear it up to be able to open an account

You should have asked the people at the bank. You should never allow someone to give you information without an explaination of what that information means.

But anyhow, you probably have an outstanding negative balence at another bank somewhere or perhaps you might have some bad checks out there that you have not resolved. The bank should be able to give you some sort of report or phone number to call in order to find out who you owe and how much you must pay them in order to resolve the matter.

Chex systems is a reporting agency. When someone claims you owe money (whether you do or not) They report it to this chex systems (who do not actually check any details that I am aware of)

Chex systems is used by many banks, and pretty much all banks in Calif. If you owe ten bucks for an electric bill in a place you moved away from 10 years ago, then they will say you don't clear their system.

You need to find out who says you owe what. If it is a legit charge you need to pay the bill. If it is in error then you need to start writing the letters and try to sort it out.
Sadly it does not matter if you really owe anyone or not, letters to chex systems are pretty much useless. (other than to find out who claims you owe them money)Even court decisions in your favor fall on deaf ears to Chex systems. The only one who can fix your record with them is the one who says you owe them money, and if they fail to do so, or refuse to do so dispite court descisions you are pretty much stuck. If you are not in California you can try to find a bank that does not use Chex systems to open your account.
In California there is supposed to be some kind of a course in money management that can erase your being unable to open an account.. it costs under a hundred bucks I think, or you can use the rather expensive check cashing services that are springing up on corners and buy money orders for all your check writing needs. There is supposed to be a five year limit on blocking you from opening an account.. I am unaware if that limit actually works or not.

Well have u ever written any checks(had previous account)? If you haven't u need to investigate cause someone may have been using your ssn. If they have and you have hot checks, you need to get affidavits on each one of them. Hot checks are taken seriously and if u haven't had any, u need to take this seriously.
