What ever you do, don't us peroxide. You will end up with beached spots, being white on an off white carpet, just as bad as dirty spots. can't believe someone suggested that.

The best carpet cleaner we have found on the market is a product called Spot Shot. you can get it at the grocery stores. Look for the orange lid.

If you are unlucky with Spot Shot chances are you will need to call a professional, and even they may not be able to get it out.

Let Me back up a bit: How to properly clean a carpet stain?

If you haven't already tried to clean it with clear water, do this first. After several rinsings blottings, then add 1/4 tsp. of dawn to one quart of warm water, again keep putting that on until you get desired results, again rinse with clear water each time. Blotting with towels as you go. After you think you have gotten it clean, then take a clean white towel and weight it with something, usually a heavy book. This will allow any residual stain to pull up in the towel. As carpet drys, if the stain looks as if it is gone and then suddenly reappears you are having what is known as wicking to occur. The towel allows the dirt to continue to pull up into the towel instead of stopping at the ends of your fibers. If you have a stain it is at this point you should try the Spot Shot.

Just don't us the peroxide.

You buy a dark colored carpet the next time? Move a peice of furniture over it so its covered? Try using RESOLVE carpet cleaner- it works really well for small stains or u may have to do a steam cleaning shampoo on it if its been there awhile. Try a little warm water with some bleach in it so it will atleast drag out the stain color back to white again. Good luck

No, bleach is fantastically harsh and could probably injury the carpet. The splotchy hues ought to actual look fantastically undesirable to. i could commence with some "be certain" spray cleanser or OxyClean powder. The powder can paintings miracles. blend somewhat with some water to make a paste and slop it over the stain. enable it take a seat for an hour or 2 and the sparkling it up. extra attempt and cost is to employ a carpet cleanser and attempt yo sparkling the carpets thoroughly. be conscious: the cleansing products might circulate away easy spots and be sure you persist with the manufactureres instructions. yet once you have been waiting to apply bleach, then this is far less harsh than bleach.

no matter what kind of stain it is peroxide is the best choice for getting stains out every thing. especially if it is chemically balanced. this is a something that i learned in chemisty class and nursing school when i might have needed to get blood out of some close. the carpet is light colored so it should not have any dying effect.

There's a product called "spot shot" in an aerosol can that is a miracle worker sold in hardware stores. Spray and wipe and make sure you rinse or wipe over with clean wet rag to remove any leftover solvent. I had a 4 foot streak of tar on my carpet for 3 years, I found this product and sprayed and wiped , it came right out, unbelievable!

If its off white don't use bleach, peroxide or window cleaners cause you would get a different stain. Use an old toothbrush and shaving gel the stuff works wonders on tough small stains.

posted before I read damsel's reply.
she is very informative but i would still use shaving gel instead of dawn, but definately follow her directions.

Mix boiled and still hot water with oxyclean. Pour on spot. Let sit. If after 5 minutes it is not washing out, my experience is it never will. Bleach will turn it yellow unless it is a plastic product like made from recycled pop bottles. Make that place where you put a piece of furniture.

If it is more white than "off" white then dilute some bleach in some water using sparingly on the spot and work with a white wash cloth.
