On the pretext of fighting international terrorism the United States is trying to establish control over the world’s richest oil reserves, Leonid Shebarshin, ex-chief of the Soviet Foreign Intelligence Service, who heads the Russian National Economic Security Service consulting company, said in an interview for the Vremya Novostei newspaper.
Using the anti-terrorist cause as a cover the United States has occupied Afghanistan, Iraq and will soon move to impose their “democratic order” on the Greater Middle East, Shebarshin said. “The U.S. has usurped the right to attack any part of the globe on the pretext of fighting the terrorist threat,” Shebarshin said.
Referring to his meeting with an unnamed al-Qaeda expert at the Rand Corporation, a nonprofit research organization in the U.S., Shebarshin said: “We have agreed that [al-Qaeda] is not a group but a notion.”

"The fight against that all-mighty ubiquitous myth deliberately linked to Islam is of great advantage for the Americans as it targets the oil-rich Muslim regions,” Shebarshin emphasized.
With military bases in Afghanistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, Shebarshin said, the United States has already established control over the Caspian region — one of the world’s largest oil reservoirs.

Yeah that sounds about right and highly believable.Im not being sarcastic either. They planned the attack on 9-11 so they would have a shadowy enemy to go after. If there is an Al Queada we created and funded it.That is a fact, not crazy liberal ranting either. It is probably still funded by the CIA

This is the same organization that declared and continues to insist that the militants in Chechnya are bandits and not rebels. In a sense Leonid is right about al-Qaeda. It has been described to me as a funding body to which groups with similar aims can make presentations for money to carry out projects. The plans and personnel for these projects is left up to the members of the group and only its intent or hoped for result is considered. It.is a very dispersed group bound by a common ideology and to a certain extent religion but no rigid command structure or cell structure. For instance all have a great deal of respect for Osama but the closest group to him, the al-Qaeda in Iraq, formed after the invasion, have great differences in policy aims and tactical plans that have led to arguments. As for the Rand Corp. they have a history of coming out with papers that agree with the party paying for the answer. I distrust experts whose opinions can be brought. As for this war being a cover to impose democratic order in the Middle East, that is the stated aim of the effort. Ridding the world of terrorism and destroying the roots of these terrorists by imposing democracy. The US hasn't made any bones about this aim. Its a old trick, mask the lie by telling a few truths. Do recall where this man served his apprenticeship.

The Russian dude is going too far. Al-Qaeda defiantly exists. But it is probably not as power full and extensive as American media makes it look like. Surely America has used anti-terrorist cuase as a cover to persue their intrests, No WMD found in iraq, not a single proven link between saddam and al-qaeda.
The funny thing is they actually claim they attacked iraq to LIBERATE people! America has supported many unpopular dictatorships around the world specially in latin america ( general pinochet government as prime example).
So the only real reson to attack iraq was to gain control over the region and economic intrests

O yes, that is why we are spending billions on the war effort, so that we can control the world's oil. That makes a lot of sense. Our soldiers in Afganistan aren't building any schools or clinics either are they? And we have created Al-Qaeda so the whole world can come down upon us. Sounds to me like the US and our allies are really just trying to make the world a safer place. I am sure our allies were involved in creating Al-Qaeda too, right?
Let me draw a line in the sand _____________ which side are you going to be on? read the story below.

A myth that has become a reality! Gee, I wonder how many weapons this Russian has sold to the terrorists? How many passports that have been issued to these myological beings? I had to leave one part of Los Angeles becuase it was soo overpopulated by Russian spies & Armenian Terrorists. The Russians should STILL be considered our enemies. They are tied in with the terrorists who are attempting to take over our country & our people.

This from a country that denied killing and starving their own people, wonder what's next? Remember, their own union collapsed for a reason... Perhaps their own propaganda was found out by their own people?
There are so many conspiracy theories you are bound to find plenty of believers for each one. I just wouldn't put too much emphasis on what a communist leader has to say.

Afghanistan has no oil reserves. The US had complete control of Kuwait in 1990, and left. Currently, Iraqi oil production has returned to pre war levels, and all the revenue is going to the Iraqi government, (and here's a huge surprise.... 95% of the oil is going to Europe and Japan).
Now you know why this quack is the "ex" chief.

This is admitted by the administration. We funded al-qaeda to fight the soviets. Osama(Usama) is a CIA agent and all the weapons were paid for by the CIA.
We even paid the entire budget of the taliban in 2000.
So yeah, this is not a surprise but thanks for making the ignorant aware..
