Nothing. Irag should be likened to the Vietnam "conflict"!
Didnt you know? It's not a "war" per se.....it's a more PC "Conflict" ..

Americans supported the World War II and Iraq's war isn't.

WWII was largely a conflict between industrialized nation states that spanned the globe whereas the fighting in Iraq is more of a localized insurgency (guerilla warfare exclusively by one side.) One similarity is that:
A. The events leading up to WWII saw the development of a concrete (and winning) strategy of peasant (or guerilla) warfare put forth by Mao (during the Japanese invasion of China.)
B. Resistance fighters/partisans had a big impact on operations during WWII as they do now in Iraq.

A war is to fight to the death, as a nation but with our volunteered service men and women whom we regard as our enemy. In the former war this supposedly is what a nation of people believed was so in the past war.
In contrast 40% of the citizens in USA believe that the 9:11 original days attack was a "military operation" ..I do not recall any other war where that would be said of previous wars.
