As far as I can tell it is their position that we invaded and occupied their homelands, ignored their customs and religious beliefs, and have been exploiting their people and natural resources for our own benefit to the detriment of theirs for generations. That makes us the Nazis and them the Free French. Whether you agree with them or not, that is how they see it, and that is the viewpoint that will continue to guide their actions. It is our leadership's refusal to acknowledge the existence of such a viewpoint (it's validity is a separate and unrelated issue) that makes any attempt to deal with them unworkable. Bush keeps saying they hate America, well yes, during the occupation most of the French hated Germany, but their primary goal seems to be the end of Western control of their society, not the destruction of ours. Just one outsiders take on an extremely complex situation.

The West has been an occupying force in many Eastern countries since time immemorial. It's seen as an oppression of Eastern peoples. Well, that's what started it, since Afghanistan the War on Terror has become in some people's minds a war on Islam, which is why we're now seeing so many religious fanatics acting as terrorists.

'They' have been framed for 9/11 for a start. Also no-one likes their country being attacked by a foreign power and they most certainly do not like their friends, family or themselves being killed an wounded. Neither do they like their property being destroyed.
The war on terror is a lie - All Bush and his friends want is the oil from countries in the Middle East.

They don't like us because we are taking away their power over people...showing people what freedom is like....granted we go about it in the wrong way sometimes.

So, like, there are these dudes, you know? And they're, like, really hot. Anyway, they're all like, "You Americans need to die" and stuff, you know? And I'm all like, "WhatEVER. I can do whatever I want because I live in the best country in the world."
