Wash and wax his car, and leave a $100 bill in his glove compartment, he's gonna love you after that.

There are two things you can do to make your boss feel all warm and cozy about you.
One: Be fast and efficient. Do your job the best you can and be known as the go to guy/girl for all tasks and issues. There is no better gift to a boss than someone that he can count on; a true team player.
Two: Mirror your boss, plus. If he works from 9-7, you work from 8:45-7:15. If she loves football and working on her house. You talk about Sunday's game and the new wall sconces you are looking for. His interests are your interests; be careful to not over do it. Nobody likes a kiss ***, err, some people do.

As a general principle, I am not one for brown-nosing. I can spot someone who is insincere a mile away. I disagree with some of my bosses actions and I don't expect my employees to always agree with mine. The trick is to disagree in a respectful manner. I want people to be able to approach me with ideas that might differ from my own. I want them to have put some thought into the issue and come to me with valid points and information to back it up. I will respect them for having the courage to come and speak up about a concern and also for the thought that they have given the situation before they came to me. Keep in mind that that does not mean I will agree with their side, but I will always consider what they have to say.
What I do not appreciate is someone coming in and throwing a temper tantrum because they did not get their way. I do not respect people that agree with me to my face, but then I hear them talking about how stupid I am behind my back. I'm not angry about their opinion of me, rather I lose respect because they were not honest with me.

Come in on time, do a good job, ask if you can do anything else and ask for feedback on your job performance.
Let your supervisor know that you have good work ethics and want to succeed.
