I am not sure if normal is the right word?.. maybe insensitive, cheap, or extremely forgetful? My bf has been pulling the same bs. For my several year anniversary he got me a box of truffles and a bottle of conditioner for my hair... He does not pull through for other important days either. Like Christmas... But besides that he hasnt been doing anything for me just because either. It is not that he doesnt have enough $. I think he loves me a lot. ? But I am sick and tired of not feeling more appreciated. I have friends whose men buy them all kinds of nice stuff ranging from suvs to jewelry, vacations and flowers... So needless to say I am quite frustrated. I would be real happy with a surprise for one of my hobbies or something small yet thoughtful. So to answer your question it is a continuum: Some men are very thoughtful, caring etc. and others are too busy with other aspects of their lives I suppose...

No! It's not normal. I never forget a birthday, anniversary, Valentine's Day, or Mother's Day. Flowers and card on Valentine's Day and Mother's Day. Flowers, card, and gift on birthdays and anniversaries.

I am only dating, but so far he has not forgotten all the important dates. I would assume that once we did get married, that he would forget the smaller ones (my parents b-day, my sisters b-day...etc), but I do not expect him to remember all of them. That is why women remind the men, because after a week they seem to forget anything you tell them!

No, its not normal. You need to talk to him about it. If he forgets, no offense, but it just sounds like he doesn't put them in a priority. Meaning, its not one of the things he puts effort into remembering because he doesn't care enough to. He sounds like a jerk. But every problem in a marriage can work out, you and he just have to work on it. Good luck.

Some people HAVE lives that don't revolve around the other person, and if that person works alot, then they might need to be reminded.

When I am really busy I forget certain dates, too.
